  IMAGE: The Ham Sandwich Blood Policy

  i have always thought the "ham sandwich" was an apt simile for the jw policy of allowing blood fractions but not whole blood.

  i created the graphic below to illustrate this in the watchtower comments video "question jws: blood" (see below).. i had a request for this image and thought i would share it with you all.

  Excellent video on the blood policy. Very succint and to the point. The folly of the Watchtower's shifting blood policies are obvious to just about everyone accept the ones who are writing them. I almost feel sorry for the Governing Body. These blood policies must have their attorneys tied in knots. It is only getting more difficult to maintain and defend. Yet, the organization cannot admit it's erroneous views of the last fifty-plus years. What would they say to the parents who had lost children to the blood ban? We have new light? That won't work. So, they are trying to defend the indefensible.

  The suggestion to request a visit via the internet is a very good idea. I am wondering when the Society will come to lament their decision to invite those requests.

  Florida woman fired for saying Merry Christmas instead of Happy holidays!

  foxnews reports that a florida woman was fired for refusing to say: "happy holidays" she insisted that as a christian she use the term christmas.

  i have found others with the same view.

  though one witness sister was fired from a smallgoods company for refusing to say "merry christmas.

  I wasn't even offended by the "Merry Christmas" greeting when I was a Watchtower Witness. I was aware that the person meant well. Why would anyone else get their panties in a wad over a simple greeting? It really baffles the mind. I am amused that our society is quick to bend over backwards to placate the sensativities of non-Christian religions, but will then throw a fit when someone wants to display a large cross on private property that might be highly visible.

  is there some connection between the digital tv mandate and freeing up the airwaves in preparation for rfid?.

  doesn't scripture say that satan is the prince of the power of the air?.

  anyone else think there could be a connection here?.

  The Bible says a lot of things. If one is so inclined, they can peer into the book of Revelation and apply various criptic passages to almost any event in history - from the assasination of President Lincoln to the invention of the hoola-hoop. The book of Revelation is the perfect canvass for the typical fundamentalist demagogue to interpose his immagination onto and to paint some dark scenario that captures the immagination of his web subcribers. It's the perfect intellectual masturbation tool.

  I'm certain that various conspiracy theory oriented websites which attempt to tie them in with Revelation are making a big to do over this. Much like they did with Y2K. Perhaps the new President Obama will use this transition for some sinister plot. Maybe some sort of secular mind control? The only limit to such horror tales is your imagination.

  Well Six, your previous generalizations about the "stupidity" of those who see major cooling trends as contrary evidence to the global warming trend reminded me of the sweeping generalizations made by those who ridecule us who believe in Evolution and Natural Selection.

  I am not a climatologist, so I do not feel obligated (or even qualified) to formulate an "alternate theory" to the man made warming theory. I do know that many scientists have openly protested and resigned from the U.N.'s panel on climate change. More and more are dissenting from the prevailing view as well, but are not being listened to by the mainstream media. I also know that many climatologists are drawing parallels to major upticks in temperatures prior to previous ice ages.

  The earth has gone through radical swings in temperature for it's entirety. I find it odd that not too many people want to discuss the fact that temperatures were even hotter prior to the existence of human civilization. The geological record show that ocean levels have gone up and down dramatically for millions of years; and that glaciers have come and gone. It is utterly unrealistic to expect the earth's temperatures to "flat-line" without fluctuations.

  Again, I do not claim to be an expert. I simply acknowlege that there are thousands of scientists who no longer accept the man-made global warming theories. These are not merely community college hacks. Many of them come from MIT and Cambridge. Nor are all of them taking money from the oil industry, as claimed by many.

  LOL That is one of my favorite Seinfeld episodes. It totally reminded me of something a weird old JW brother would do. The Festivus heritage reminded me of the "spiritual heritage" that they always refer to in Watchtower articles.

  The sad thing is that some people, some very very stupid people, take things like this as evidence that global warming is not happening.

  Yes, I suppose that all of those thousands of scientists and climatologists who are now dissenting from their peers are all very stupid people as well. I suppose it is only the sophisticated and the intellectually superior who can truly appreciate Al Gore's speeches and bar charts.

  The scriptures are our guide- not the Tradition of Churchianity.

  Following YOUR view, there are now many thousands of denominations teaching anything imaginable.

  I see that theMartian is back with his usual bluster completely devoid of substance. But, this is to be expected. This has been the M.O. of theMartian for quite a while. He thinks that throwing verbal grenades and then ducking for cover constitutes a Watchtower defense. I think that he is a lonely disfellowshipped soul who still blames himself for not being able to measure up to the organization's Adventist code.

  However, It always amazes me that one who is convinced that the Watchtower is the sole dispenser of truth would feel any desire to come here. Is it to give a defense for Jehovah? I would think that Jehovah is probably tired of your lame comments on this forum. You would do better sticking tracts under door mats like the rest of your fellow Kingdom Proclaimers. Your Witnessing on this forum only proves how intellectually vacant your ideology really is.

  I am still amazed that the NY Times is such a bee in the bonnet of Conservatives. Newspaper readership is down significantly; and more and more consume their news through cable and internet. Though the NY Times may be the "standard" news source for some of the "elite", I certainly do not see it as having significant influence over the public opinion of average America. I personally do not know one person who reads the NY Times.

  Puting aside the biases of the NY Times, if there was ever a media outlet that could be congratulated for carrying the water for one of the two parties, it would be FOX News. I see a revolving door between FOX, and Republican politics. Tony Snow leaves FOX to become White House Press Secretary. Then, FOX hires Karl Rove and Mike Huckabee; while featuring Newt Gingrich as a regular guest. This is all within their right to do so, but the "Fair And Balanced" slogan still gives me a good laugh. It reminds me of the Watchtower referring to itself as the "Spiritual Paradise".

  The NY Times and LA Times are not the only biased outlets. All media has a bias to a certain degree. Yes, even Neal Cavuto. There are certainly an ample suppy of conservative leaning magazines including the Weekly Standard and the Economist.

  The NY Times - a state media source? Oh Burn, you silly!
